Mural by Claudio Aguillon in Jourdanton TX.

This is a section of a mural that I just completed in a restaurant in Jourdanton, TX. The name of the restaurant is Mi Mexico owned by the Flores Family. I have painted murals for their restaurants for the past 20 years. They are hardworking people from the state of Jalisco. This mural is intended to make you feel like you are walking into Mexico 75 years ago.

Sketch of Downtown San Antonio By Claudio Aguillon

Every morning after I drop off my son at school, I stay a little longer. This is the view of downtown San Antonio from the front of his school, where I park my truck. The tower is the Tower Life Building.  Its is one of the most beautiful buildings, especially at night.  The top portion is lit in an orange glow that resembles the color of an outdoor fire.

"Solitude" by Claudio Aguillon

I have felt a certain type of loneliness at the end of the day when I am far away from home. In this painting I try to capture that feeling of melancholy.

"Alone After Sunset" By Claudio Aguillon

This is a painting where I go back to one of my favorite subject. I love to paint landscapes. I enjoy taking the painting to that  middle ground, between realist and abstract. I LOVE  big open spaces.

Painting of Fig by Claudio Aguillon

One of the many wonderful treats about summer is being able to pick a fig off your tree. Luckily here in San Antonio it has been a rainy year and we are getting a good crop of figs in this year. Have I mentioned they are on of my favorite fruits, they are right up there with pomegranates.

San Jose Mission at a Distance

I painted  this  landscape on site near Cotulla,  and later at the studio added the San Jose Mission from San Antonio. I wonder what the mission would have looked without streets and buildings that surround then in present day San Antonio TX.

Large Oak by Barn

I think many times I made the assertion specially as a younger person, that I would never paint bluebonnets. ...and here I am painting bluebonnets. I think in my college days we made fun of bluebonnet paintings. Well, at this point, I don't really care what my colleagues think. Now a days
I find myself studying the elusive dusty color of the foliage in the oaks and admire all those painters that have been able to  capture it. I have been looking at the paintings of great Texas painter Porfirio Salinas
